The Nashua World Cup Soccer Club was established in 1980 and celebrates its 32nd year in 2012. NWC is run by volunteers and parents and is an entirely non-profit organization. NWC strives to deliver the highest level of coaching and trainer instruction to players throughout NH and Northern Massachusetts.
NWC offers organized soccer play for boys and girls from ages 4-19. Our staff consists of licensed trainers and some of the most sought after soccer clinicians in NE. Many of our coaches and Executive Board members have played in the NWC Club over the years.
The majority of our team practices are held at Nashua's Mines Falls Park.
Our Micro program is open to boys and girls ages 4-5, where the basic fundamentals of soccer and team play are stressed. Certified trainers lay the ground work for each child's introduction to soccer.
Our Soccer Academy allows players to be introduced to soccer in an instructional, developmental format. Each week players will practice with their team coach and Academy trainer twice a week, and participate in the Granite State Soccer League on weekends, usually for one game each weekend. Please see www.granitestatesoccer.com for more details on Granite State Soccer.
As players age out of the Soccer Academy they transition to NWC's Competitive Travel program, which provides a wide range of soccer opportunity to dedicated players. Each week players will practice with their team coach and work with a certified trainer, with games played generally once a weekend and tournament play three times a year. NWC makes every effort to support teams within various divisions of the competitive Granite State League; if a higher talent warrants it, NWC supports teams that wish to enter the Maple League/Mass Premier League (www.maplesoccer.com). NWC also recommends/nominates its top players (Boys 12U and up, Girls 13U and up) for tryouts with the NH ODP (Olympic Development Program, www.soccernh.org) and is a strong supporter of NH Futsal. Each year, the Director of Coaching for NWC and our Coaching Staff make roster decisions that are unique to each team. The number of players that tryout and their relative skill level dictates the following:
- Which teams players will be assigned to
- Which league and/or division that team will play in
- Which tournaments a team will participate in
Player assignment to a specific team is not continuous as a player stays within NWC - they may move to a different team based on each year's tryouts.
Assignment to a team is based on age eligibility, with the birthday cut off for each player being July 31st of each year. NWC follows the age guidelines of US Youth Soccer, and the goal is to have players on teams that are age appropriate. An 'Age Matrix' that details this information can be found here on the NWC website. Each year the Director of Coaching and a team coach may recommend a player "play up" if said player would likely be in the top 5 players, talent wise, of the team they are being recommended to. Due to the addition of new players each year and overall team performance, the allowance of a player to play up in any given year is evaluated on a year-by-year basis.
Starting at the Academy, NWC teams play a fall and spring season as part of player registration fee. NWC also provides one session of indoor soccer training each week from November to April at the NH Sportsdome.
